Having said that (gosh I hate saying “having said that”), I have to say that, today, it’s more difficult to separate true quality from a waste of money.
I don’t like repeating myself, but I have to mention this part in most of my reviews these days – the overseas outsourcing.
Outsourcing is not bad per se – but there are good practices, and then there’s bad outsourcing. I know the exact locations that will keep the quality of the products, and I know the ones that might mess it up.
Black & Decker FP1600B Food Processor Review
To simplify, nowadays I stick with these simple rules:
- I review products that are made in North America and Western Europe
- If I learn about somebody outsourcing, I only review product that is outsourced to locations that I know will keep the quality level
- I remove products that are outsourced to locations that might not maintain the quality
What does this mean for you?

- It can sound like a lot of confusing terms before we see what the actual owners are saying. Let’s tend to that:
Pros
– the positive things the users had to say about the processor:
- nice wide tube, it’s great when you don’t have to pre-cut everything…
- I bought this on a sale for a ridiculous price and didn’t expect much, maybe that’s why I’m so impressed by how good this BD is…this is my first review on Amazon, but I had to share…
- I use it to make meals for my 6 dogs. Meat, fruits, vegetables, you name it…zero issues…
- It is sturdier than I thought by looking at the picture…
- For the power it packs, it’s strangely cheap…
- I am updating this review after 2 years of use…this thing works like a champ, just as good and fast as the day it arrived…
- Great price.
- Looks cute, it’s a central piece in my kitchen…
- I was hesitant after reading some of the negative reviews. But now, I am so relieved that I jumped in and bought it, especially after struggling with those manual salad choppers that would break within weeks, months at best…
- One of my better investments this year, it spares so much time…
- The cleaning is super easy because even the part where the blades sit is detachable…
- So cheap for the use I get out of it…will be updating this review to see how it passes the test of time…
- Very precise and easy to follow instructions… 7th-grade level explanations…
- crushes ice for margaritas like it’s butter…

- so much easier to clean than a blender…
- This is my second B&D, and it made me a lifetime fan of the brand…

The CONs
– the negative things the users had to say about the processor:
- this processor wouldn’t turn on out of the box…
- I got it on sale but got the wrong blade…it can’t even fit…
- I spent an hour just trying to put this thing together…
My review:
A great budget solution, that’s what this is.
And for a budget solution, it packs some serious power. From what I’ve seen, it works as well as food processors that cost many times over. Solid build, quality steel used on the blades, pretty compact but still a nice wide tube.
I always liked the simple German design, and it seems that they made an effort even with their lower-end products like this. Kudos for that.
The main con that I am seeing is that it’s loud. Looking at the weight and the power, it probably is.
I had a similar issue with one of my previous food processors and I find that wrapping a cloth around the base of the processor cuts the noise at least in half since most of the noise comes from vibrations.
If the main issue is the noise, then for me, it’s a non-issue. For the price, especially.
Smart buy anyway you look at it.
