Breville BFP800XL Sous Chef Food Processor

Why Breville Sous Chef Food Processor Is A Big Helper In The Kitchen – Full Review

Breville BFP800XL Sous Chef Food Processor

It’s more difficult now than it ever was.

Why?

Primarily because of bad outsourcing practices used by certain companies.

I was a Quality Assurance Manager in one of the bigger brand in home appliances, and I know my stuff, you can bet on it. That’s why I make it a rule of thumb to:

  1. Only review products made in the US, Canada or Western Europe
  2. Only review products that I know are outsourced to locations that will maintain the quality of the products

So, let’s dig right into the review of this Breville, one of the best food processors on the market today.

See more pictures and customer reviews on this amazon dedicated page.

Here’s what we’ll do in the review:

  1. Take a look at the product specifications
  2. Take a look at customer reviews, both positive and negative ones
  3. Give it an overall quality rating in my review summary

Specifications:

Breville BFP800XL Sous Chef Best Food Processor

The positive reviews of this food processor – the PROs:

  • I’m a chef and I am very strict with my kitchen equipment but I love this processor so much that I am starting to hate it…
  • amazed at the power of the engine…
  • A real eye-candy, I get compliments on it left and right from my guests…
  • Fits perfectly under the kitchen pieces. I got the Cranberry Red, and it looks amazing…for me, worth every dime…
  • No hole at the bottom like my in my previous Kitchen Aid, which would always drip if you fill it too much, the container is marked like a measuring cup…everything about this product seems bigger, stronger, faster, better…
  • I was shopping around and researching for a food processor upgrade for months before I decided to go with this Breville…no regrets so far…
  • great customer service – when I dropped the small bowl and chipped it they sent me a new one for free within 3 days…
  • everything that my old processor wasn’t…
  • quiet and so easy to use…
  • Finally decided to pamper myself and get a really good processor. What the heck, if my husband can spend thousands on aluminum whatever for his car, I can spend a couple of hundred on something that seems like it will last me a lifetime…
  • It literally makes my life easier…
  • chopping takes seconds…
  • It cuts the preparation time of some of my meals in half…
  • I had my doubts but all things considered, now that I have this processor, it seems like a bargain…
  • The machine makes chopping salads almost too easy…
  • If this food processor cost twice as much it would still be worth every penny, compared to the junk I used to have…
  • I am trying to find flaws but I think it was impossible getting a better machine…
  • I would recommend this machine to anybody anytime, it made my days in the kitchen fun…
  • It was a mess with my previous Cuisinart, especially getting the lid just in place so that it would work. This Breville is slick, fast and easy to use…great value for money…
  • I am writing this review after 6 months of use and I’ll try to be unbiased. Amazing adjustable slicing blade – so no more mandolin for me, versatile with the attachments, so far seems sturdy and strong…and I cannot even begin to explain all the ways it’s better than my old processor…
  • A major, really major upgrade from my old food processor…anything that I’ll ever need from a food processor…
  • Even if this Breville dies at some point, I am getting the same one if they are still on the market by then…
  • Just beautiful, amazing workmanship…
  • you can buy it online at Amazon

The negative reviews – the CONs:

  • the small bowl is not that useful…
  • pretty heavy and big…
  • my machine was getting stuck all the time, so I sent it back…waiting for the replacement…
  • I bake a lot and I expected it to be better with the dough…

My reviews resume:

Breville BFP800XL Sous Chef Food Processor partsOne of the best home food processors on the market, in my book at least. I’ve seen it action, and it’ss almost too powerful and fast for its own good.

It is big and a bit on the heavier side, but that’s to be expected from a product that packs so much “heath”. Versatile, even more so than you might’ve thought after seeing the specifications, because you can adjust how thick (thin) the slicer works (24 settings for one disc).

Very smart design.

The tube is wide enough for you to forget pre-cutting. A huge relief.

Professional quality in your kitchen. Overall Quality Rating of 4.8 stars.

It’s good to see someone still standing behind the quality of their products.

Hamilton Beach 70550RL PrepStar Food Processor with Bonus Chill Lid

What Are The PROs and CONs Of Hamilton Beach Food Processor Model 70550RL PrepStar – Review & Ratings

Hamilton Beach 70550RL PrepStar Food Processor with Bonus Chill Lid

It’s really hard to decide what we really need and will use and what are just marketing tricks.

That’s what this website is about – helping you make sense of it all.

I worked as a Quality Assurance Manager for years and I know how to tell the difference between true value for your money and a piece that will not solve your problems but become an additional one, no matter how affordable it is.

But before we go any further, let me tell you how I’ll go about things in this review:

  1. We’ll list all of the product specifications
  2. We’ll carefully look into end user reviews, both the PROs and the CONs
  3. I’ll end with my review resume and give this product a rating

See the amazon offer and tips >>>

The processor specifications:

  • 350-watts motor with 2 speeds
  • Continuous feed chute
  • Blade storage in the bowl itself for saving space
  • Generous 8-cup bowl capacity
  • Includes bonus safety lid for the bowl

So far everything sounds OK, but it’s really difficult to say anything about the product just based on the specifications list. Let’s see what users have to say about this product.

The positive user reviews -the PROs:

  • Best food processor I’ve owned so far. Easy to use, easy to clean and easy to store…
  • Friendly customer service…
  • I’m very happy with this product. We originally bought it to make home-made food, but now with our first baby on the way we’ve tried to make baby food…so far so good…
  • I’ve never had a food processor before, but this one definitely does what it says will do.
  • I’ve used it for only 3 months, and I’ve cut my preparation time in by 30-40%…
  • It got shipped really fast. It’s really sturdy, well-made and user-friendly…
  • Just as advertised…
  • I’ve crunched some numbers, and after owning this food processor for little over 3 years I’ve saved sooo much money in the long run on junk and takeout food. It now takes me less time to make a salad or a home-cooked meal than to wait for a fatty takeout meals…
  • It’s dishwasher-safe and that’s a huge relief. It simply saves me so much trouble…
  • It works wonders on nuts, herbs, vegetables, you name it…I’ve been using it almost every day for 4 years now, and I have no complaints so far…
  • Great quality at a really affordable price. It really exceeded my expectations
  • Great diversity of features, it chops, purees, mixes, mince, grates, you name it. I’ve saved so much time in the kitchen…
  • Really light and easy to use…
  • I’ve really abused my Hamilton Beach food processor during the holiday season, and the motor didn’t heat up or failed me once. I’m really satisfied with this unit; it’s really powerful and efficient…
  • I’ve had it for over 2 years now, and I can say that it’s easy and safe to use. It does the job well; it’s a really powerful food processor at a really great price.
  • I have a joint and wrist problem, and I was really afraid I won’t be able to use this product on my own. Luckily, no such problem. This machine is really user-friendly and very light…
  • I got it as a present, and I’m definitely going to spread some joy with it…
  • It does a great job when it comes to easy stuff like soups and salad, and even works wonder on heavy-duty dough even when I’m pushing it’s limits with larger quantities then recommended on the box…
  • see more reviews on amazon.com

Now for the negative user reviews – the CONs:

  • I haven’t read the user manual before using it for the first time, and I’ve tried chopping ice and grinding coffee and it just dies on me…
  • The company sent me the wrong model of Hamilton Beach that I haven’t ordered…really frustrating…
  • If you go with this product, please be careful with the blade. It’s razor sharp…they should warn you about this on the box, I cut myself when washing it…
  • I’ve been using it for 5 weeks and it just won’t start any more. The cost of shipping it back and forth exceeds the cost of the unit.

And now for my final review on this product and my final over Rating:

We’ve arrived at the very end of our review. Here is where we’ll put it all into perspective and make sense of it all.

Let me start with an aspect of the design I really don’t like. This will explain why I gave this processor a 3/5 rating in durability even after seeing all the positive reviews.

I am talking about the fact that the motor is side mounted. I know the internal workings of such pieces and there’s too much that can go wrong. Too much mechanics and belts involved.

I would personally never get a food processor with a side mounted motor.

Having said that, I can’t ignore all the positive reviews and this product seems better than most of the models that use similar design.

So, let me put it this way:

The best model with a motor on the side can’t ever comes close in durability to medium quality processor that features a motor installed at the base of the processor.

Why?

  1. Too much mechanics involved
  2. Greater chance of material wear and fatigue
  3. Much more friction -> much more heat-up – > much greater chance of the some of the electronics melting

It is a bargain, but I would think trice before getting this product, even at that price.

My Overall Quality Rating is 4.0 out of 5 stars.

You can do much better, even at that price range, take my word on this one.

Cuisinart DFP-14BCN 14-Cup Food Processor review

Is Cuisinart Model DFP-14BCN the best food processor?

Cuisinart DFP-14BCN 14-Cup Food Processor

You certainly don’t want to miss out on anything, and you don’t want to be tricked into buying something that you don’t really need, either.

But I’m here to help you.

I used to work as a Quality Assurance Manager in a factory of small appliances for little over 10 years, and I can really tell what product is worth your time and money, and which is simply a piece of cheap plastic and scrap metal put together.

Before we continue, let us take a look at the structure of this review:

  1. We’ll list all of the product specifications
  2. Then we’ll take a better look at the PROs and CONs – from the perspective of the end user
  3. In conclusion, we’ll give this product our final grade and see if you get your money’s worth by buying this product

Let’s begin with the specifications of this food processor:

  • 720-watt powerful motor
  • Lexan bowl of generous 14-cup capacity; separate on and off/pulse buttons
  • Stainless-steel dough blade, slicing and shredding disc, chopping blade
  • Dishwasher-safe parts; the feed tube is extra wide
  • Spatula, instruction and recipe book and a video How-to included
  • Built to fits Electrical Standards of North America

Now for the positive end user reviews:

  • For such a powerful motor, you can barely notice it’s on. That’s really great because we have a baby in our home and wouldn’t like to be able to use this processor only when she’s up.
  • Definitely the smartest investment I’ve made in a while.. It works great even on more difficult food like cheese, nuts, herbs..
  • This is the best food processor I’ve had so far. It’s easy to assemble and take apart and makes chopping a breeze.
  • So far I’ve used it for bread, meatballs, slicing and chopping carrots, brownies, cookies strawberries, potatoes, cucumbers, making breadcrumbs, pesto, hummus, salsa.. You name it! It did a great job and gave me consistent results each and every time.
  • I’ve been married for 15 years now, and I wish I got it for our first anniversary.. It would’ve saved me hours of time and trouble over the course of thousands of dinners I’ve prepared so far..
  • It saves me so much time and money because now I shred my own cheese and bring my own lunch to work. The cleaning part is a breeze too.
  • It’s so simple and easy to use, and it does a great job. The cleaning and storing part, along with the food processing, rarely take over 5 minutes. I couldn’t be happier with this product.
  • For us first-time food processor users, the how-to DVD and a booklet of recipes was greatly appreciated. It looked much more complicated than it actually is.
  • I will never ever make a pie crust, bread, cookie dough or pizza dough without it. The dough has such a perfect consistency, and my kitchen is mess-free. I really do not know how I lived in the pre-Cuisinart era..
  • I’m a chef, so I’m pretty fast with a knife, and a food processor at home doesn’t make much of a difference to me, but I use this model at work, and it’s such a life-saver. Sometimes I even give in and use it for food preparation when I’m tired.
  • I really like the safety lock mechanism. It’s really easy to close the bowl shut and open it again once it’s done. It also doesn’t bounce or dance around the kitchen counter when on, which is obviously a plus.
  • I’m really pleased with this purchase. It did everything it promised it would on the box, and even exceeded my expectations when it comes to grating hard cheese. Such a powerful machine and the blades are razor-sharp too.
  • Get a good deal at Amazon

Now for the negative end user reviews:

  • I needed this product for a job I had to do like yesterday, and I needed a work bowl of exactly 14-cup capacity. I didn’t take in the fact that most of these have a maximum that is lesser than their bowl capacity. No time to return it, I’ll have to make two batches..
  • Mine arrived with a chip on the work bowl. I contacted Cuisinart, and they sent me a replacement, and it both looks and works great now.
  • The lid of the work bowl broke just before the warranty expired, and it took the customer service 5 days to send me a new one.
  • The food processor won’t start if the bowl is not in the exactly right position..

Now for my final grade of this food processor:

Cuisinart DFP-14BCN 14-Cup best Food ProcessorHere we are after everything has been said about this product.

Now the only thing that remains for me to do is to use all of my knowledge and experience as an ex Quality Assurance Manager and summarize my impressions of this product.

Firstly, it is really well-made and high-quality product, especially at such an affordable price.

The only thing you should figure out on your own are the logistics of use the locking mechanism of the bowl, that was made in such a way for safety purposes, but good folks from Cuisinart should always have in mind the best interest and comfort of end users.

It’s still a solid investment into your culinary future.

But don’t you worry a thing, because I’m here to help you.

I hope that this review will give you the most answer to the question- is this product suitable for your needs? So, without any further ado:

Product specifications:

  • Shatterproof bowl with 7-cup capacity made of lexan that is dishwasher-safe
  • Wide mouth supreme feed tube fits whole fruits and vegetables; no pre-cutting
  • Shredding disc, stainless-steel slicing disc, dough blade and chopping/mixing blade
  • Automatic adjustment of speed for proper and dough consistency and perfect results

Now for the positive end user reviews:

  • We’ve had this food processor for little over a year, and we couldn’t be happier with it. No complaints so far.
  • It’s extremely easy to put together and put apart this food processor, and the cleaning time is next to nothing. It’s such a time-saver.
  • This is my first food processor, and I couldn’t be happier with it. It cut my prep time in half, and especially the shredding disc. Now I make salads all the time…changed my life…
  • It’s the perfect size for my big family. If you’re looking for a food processor that is well-made and affordable, and you intend to use it daily, I would definitely recommend this Cuisinart.
  • The motor is super powerful, and yet so quiet while at work. My wife and I are glad that we took a chance with this food processor, since we knew nothing about it…
  • I was really hesitant at first, but the 3-year overall and 10-year motor guarantee persuaded me. Now I’m happy we got this food processor because we have it for 5 years now and we have no complaints…
  • It’s a very sturdy machine and yet light enough for me to carry it around and move it from one surface to another. It’s convenient for storing as well.
  • I can say that I’ve never owned a food processor that could chop, grind or mince half as good as this Cuisinart. It does a wonderful job without turning everything into mush. No lumps as well.
  • There are no crevices on which food would catch, and I’m so happy that the cleaning part is now so much easier. I just pop it in my dishwasher and I’m good.
  • The smaller inner pusher piece can be removed, which just made my life so much easier…
  • The DVD instruction manual that came with it was extremely helpful. The blades are really super sharp and can process anything in a matter of seconds…
  • It doesn’t “dance” around my kitchen counter even if it has such a powerful motor. It’s also really quiet while on, which is really important for us because we have a baby on the way.
  • We’ve had it for little over a year, and so far it did everything it promised it would…
  • It chops up food really fast, even peskier pieces like nuts. It’s great for mixing cookie dough as well.
  • It doesn’t turn everything I put in into smithereens, like my old processor…
  • see amazon offer here >>>

The CONs of the food processor:

  • It has this really tricky mechanism for locking down the bowl before processing; I simply couldn’t get the gist of it…
  • I wish it had some kind of separate container or holder for the blades. Now I have to wrap them in paper and stash them somewhere out of my kids’ reach…
  • Take extra caution when washing the blades by hand. Now I truly get the meaning of razor-sharp…
  • I wish it had more than two speeds, I’m used to more options when preparing my food and having more control over the process in general…

My final resume and Overall Quality Rating:

Cuisinart DLC-2007N Prep 7 7-Cup Food Processor reviewThis Cuisinart has proven that it can perform well with so many eyes on it.

It passed all of the users’ tests, and there are no typical complaints that usually end users report that would be standard for this line of products.

As an ex Quality Assurance Manager, I can say that this product is definitely worth you money, simply because there are no hidden surprises; what you see is what you get.

However, I would give it a 4.6 out of 5 rating simply because of its price.

It is worth every penny, but most of us are not ready to invest that kind of money in a kitchen appliance.

If you are, you are in for years of high-end help around the kitchen.

Let’s look at the positive customer reviews of Cuisinart dlc-10s pro classic 7-cup:

  • You literally cannot know how much you needed a food processor before you get one… And this is the very best I’ve had so far.
  • Now I can grate 1lb of cheese in 5 seconds (completely), chop celery, onions, bell peppers and anything else evenly and neatly… Sometimes it works so well that I think that it has a mind of its own…
  • I now rely on it more and more in order to save time. I make healthier soups, salads and snacks to take to work. It takes me minutes, storing and cleaning included.
  • After witnessing what it can do at my friend’s house, I bought myself one of these for Christmas.. for myself. I couldn’t be happier with the results I’m getting.
  • I thought that this is going to be one of those kitchen appliances you buy on a whim, use once or twice, and then forget all about it while it collects dust in one of your cabinets. I was so wrong. This thing is so easy to use and so practical; I can’t even begin to tell you how happy I am with it.
  • It works wonders on ingredients for sauces, pesto, hummus, tapenade.. It has such a powerful motor that it easily deals with harder foods like cheese, nuts..
  • The instructional DVD was really helpful and well presented, even though you don’t need any help with this Cuisinart. It’s super easy to use.
  • Now I can make really complex dishes with minimum effort, and doing the dishes afterwards has become a breeze..
  • It’s versatile, easy to clean and use. It arrived on time, and we haven’t had any complaints so far. We’ve been using it for 2 years now.
  • This food processor never failed me, even when it came to working hardest of food.. It’s super powerful, yet so quiet when on.
  • This is my very first food processor ever, and after watching the DVD instructions, I tried out my luck with many recipes I wouldn’t dare try in the past.. My family is really happy because they now get at least one decent home-cooked meal a day.
  • It works great on everything we’ve tried out so far, and we’ve been more prone to explore new recipes after we got this Cuisinart.. It simply saves us so much trouble and time in the kitchen.
  • buy from amazon.com

Now for the negative user reviews:

  • I wish it weren’t white but some other color.. It’s easy to tell when it’s dirty, and sometimes I don’t like doing the dishes right away…
  • More color options would be a nice plus…
  • The dlc-10s Cuisinart comes only in white which is kind of a drag for me…
  • Unless you plan to make food for more than two people, get a smaller size. I didn’t realize how big the bowl is until it arrived.
  • It takes a bit too much kitchen counter space for my taste…
  • I sometimes feel that all of the attachments and improvements aren’t absolutely essential, but just waste my valuable kitchen space.
  • This was a really great food processor for a few years, but now the bowl has started to crack..

And now for my final resume of this Cuisinart dlc-10s white:

Cuisinart DLC-10S Pro Classic 7-Cup best Food ProcessorThis Cuisinart seems like the real deal and it is one of the best food processor out there, of the size is good enough for you. But let’s take a step back. In spite of the fact it’s really popular, that doesn’t always mean that you’re dealing with a high-quality product. Let’s recap what we’ve learnt here today before we jump to any conclusions.

After some time of careful consideration and I can tell you that I employed all of the tactics from my days of working as a Quality Assurance Manager, I’ve reached a decision. Mostly because it’s so sturdy and dependable, of generous capacity, has a powerful motor and yet, it’s really quiet at work.

Overall, this is a great way to invest your money.
