Black Decker FP1600B 8-Cup Food Processor

Black & Decker FP1600B 8-Cup Food Processor Review – An Inexpensive And Efficient Solution

Black Decker FP1600B 8-Cup Food Processor review

Having said that (gosh I hate saying “having said that”), I have to say that, today, it’s more difficult to separate true quality from a waste of money.

I don’t like repeating myself, but I have to mention this part in most of my reviews these days – the overseas outsourcing.

Outsourcing is not bad per se – but there are good practices, and then there’s bad outsourcing. I know the exact locations that will keep the quality of the products, and I know the ones that might mess it up.

See more customer ratings on Amazon.

To simplify, nowadays I stick with these simple rules:

  1. I review products that are made in North America and Western Europe
  2. If I learn about somebody outsourcing, I only review product that are outsourced to locations that I know will keep the quality level
  3. I remove products that are outsourced to locations that might not maintain the quality

What does this mean for you?

It means that if you see a product on my website, the reviews for it are pure substance and still stand – so you can only see top notch stuff here.

Now that we got that out of the way, let me tell you how is this review going to work:

  1. We’ll list the specifications
  2. We’ll take a nice long look at what the fresh customer reviews are saying – both PROs and CONs
  3. I’ll do my best to explain what everything said means (in my resume)

Pros

– the positive things the users had to say about the processor:

Black Decker FP1600B 8-Cup best Food Processor

  • nice wide tube, it’s great when you don’t have to pre-cut everything…
  • I bought this on a sale for a ridiculous price and didn’t expect much, maybe that’s why I’m so impressed by how good this BD is…this is my first review on Amazon, but I had to share…
  • I use it to make meals for my 6 dogs. Meat, fruits, vegetables, you name it…zero issues…
  • It sturdier than I thought by looking at the picture…
  • For the power it packs, it’s strangely cheap…
  • I am updating this review after 2 years of use…this thing works like a champ, just as good and fast as the day it arrived…
  • Great price….
  • Looks cute, it’s a central piece in my kitchen…
  • I was hesitant after reading some of the negative reviews. But now, I am so relieved that I jumped in and bought it, especially after struggling with those manual salad choppers that would brake within weeks, months at best…
  • One of my better investments this year, it spares so much time…
  • The cleaning is super easy, because even the part where the blades sit is detachable…
  • So cheap for the use I get out of it…will be updating this review to see how it passes the test of time…
  • Very precise and easy to follow instructions…7th grade level explanations…
  • crushes ice for margaritas like it’s butter…
  • very light…
  • so much easier to clean than a blender…
  • This is my second B&D, and it made me a lifetime fan of the brand…
  • great budget purchase…
  • you can buy it at Amazon.com

The CONs

– the negative things the users had to say about the processor:

  • this processor wouldn’t turn on out of the box…
  • I got it on sale but got the wrong blade…it can’t even fit…
  • I spent an hour just trying to put this thing together…

My reviews resume:

Great budget solution, that’s what this is.

And for a budget solution, it packs some serious power. From what I’ve seen, it works as good as food processors that cost many times over. Solid build, quality steel used on the blades, pretty compact but still a nice wide tube.

I always liked the simple German design, and it seems that they made an effort even with their lower-end products like this. Kudos for that.

The main CON that I am seeing is that it’s loud. Looking at the weight and the power, it probably is.

I had a similar issue with one of my previous food processor and I find that wrapping a cloth around the base of the processor cuts the noise at least in half since most of the noise comes from vibrations.

If the main issue is the noise, then for me, it’s a non issue. For the price, especially.

Smart buy anyway you look at it.

Positive reviews as per end users:

  • This is beyond any doubt the best food chopper I’ve ever used…
  • Works just as advertised
  • Great on anything I’ve used it so far. Garlic, onion, seeds, nuts, salad dressing, you name it. Does a great job. It’s also really easy to clean…
  • It’s great for homemade hummus, salsa, dressing, sauces.. I’m really looking forward to trying out all the recipes I had in mind when I ordered this…

  • The best thing about it is that you don’t have to unscrew the top in order to add food. Simply lift it and put it back when you’re ready to continue…
  • It chops well, without mashing the food. It’s super efficient, especially in the pulse mode.
  • Doesn’t take much storage space…and that’s important for NY studio apartment life…
  • It’s a great chopper and food processor. It’s really sturdy and easy to clean.
  • I’ve noticed that, no matter for how long it’s on, the motor never heats up.
  • I love the ergonomic design of the buttons…
  • The design is really smart. It’s super light, fast, and easy to use.
  • Much quieter than my old Cuisinart
  • The blades come right out, but an even easier way to clean it is to pour some water in halfway, run it for like 2 seconds, and then just put it in the dishwasher…a huge relief…
  • This little bad boy cuts my food prep time in half. No more junk food for me…
  • This chopper is great. It’s really easy to use and cleans up super fast. No complaints so far…
  • I own quite a few appliances, and I must say that I ended up using this small chopper almost every night of the week. It simply has everything you need, it’s quiet, easy to clean, easy to use…full 5 stars from San Diego…
  • I’ve had mine for some time now, and it made my life and my meals a little easier and healthier…
  • buy from Amazon.

Now as per negative user reviews – the CONs:

  • The clear plastic part broke after a month, I’m waiting for a replacement…
  • Unfortunately, the motor unit can’t be put into the dishwasher, only the container.. I had to learn this the hard way…
  • It was OK, but now with a baby on the way we’ll have to find something a little bit more baby-food orientated.
  • The razor is too sharp. Don’t put it anywhere a kid can reach it or something.
  • Great at chopping and mincing, but I still do my dicing…

Now for my final review of this processor/chopper:

The very best thing about this product is that it’s so compact, powerful and yet very quiet.

I know how B&D design the housing of the motor and they’ve always been setting industry standards on that front.

Precisely crafted slicers will not make a much of your food when you try to chop it. The sides of the bowl are designed so that the food is “flushed back” into the center. This details in design is what makes all the difference when it comes to even chopping . Many food processors will make a pure in the center of the bowl and still have whole pieces on the walls. Not this one.

I’ve been struggling to find some downsides to this product to tell about, but I am having a hard time doing it.

It’s a small piece but carefully crafted to do just what it was meant for.
