Hamilton Beach 70740 8-Cup Food Processor

Small But Powerful, The Hamilton Beach 70740 Food Processor Is A Big Help In The Kitchen – Review and Customer Ratings

Hamilton Beach 70740 8-Cup Food Processor

As an ex Quality Assurance Manager of 10 years in a small fabric of kitchen appliances, I can claim that I truly know the industry and all the fine mechanisms that keep it going. That’s why I decided to write this review, and hopefully get you one step closer to finding the best food processor for your home.

But first, let’s see how we’ll organize this thing:

  1. We’ll list all of the product specifications
  2. Then we’ll take a closer look at all of the positive and negative end user reviews
  3. At the very end, I’ll rate this product and determine if it’s worth your money or not

Proceed to amazon.com for the latest customer feedback.

Let’s start with the product specifications:

  • A much better solution than chopping food by hand
  • You can easily and quickly chop onions, shred cabbage, mix sauces, slice salad ingredients, prepare pesto or grate cheese
  • 2 speeds and pulse control
  • Stainless steel shred and slice discs and a chopping blade included
  • 450-watt powerful motor

Now for the positive end user reviews:

  • I was looking for a smaller food processor that is still powerful enough to fit all my needs. I’m really happy with this product…
  • It chops up potatoes in seconds. It also grates cheese quickly and efficiently…
  • This thing is really easy to clean and store. I just love how the whole process of making baby food, cleaning and storing this product takes only minutes out of my day…
  • This is a really handy machine, and just the perfect size. 8-cups capacity is perfect for larger batches, when we have friends over, or even when we cook for just the two of us.
  • The lower blade really chops everything you put in it. There are no unprocessed chunks of food left that I have to chase with my fingers.
  • The motor is wickedly strong, yet so quiet. So much better than my blender at making baby food and salsa.
  • It’s really easy to fix on your counter because of these rubber feet it has. It doesn’t move around the counter when it’s on. I ordered another one to give as a gift to my best friend.
  • You definitely can’t beat this quality at this price. It’s just so inexpensive for a food processor of this size and quality. We’ve been using it daily for little over a year now, and we couldn’t be more satisfied.
  • I love how I can now slice, chop and dice all of the vegetables I need for my all-time favorite dish in seconds…
  • I just pop in some carrots, cabbage and onions, and they are evenly cut and wok ready…
  • There is absolutely no sliding around the kitchen counter when you’re using it, and it’s really user-friendly. It’s really easy to clean as well…
  • Saves me so much time in the kitchen on the whole food prep/clean up business. I really don’t know how I used to manage to chop everything by hand..
  • This product is really well-made and looks sturdy and like it’s going to last me a long time. Totally worth every penny…
  • It has the most important features I require from a food processor: it has the pulse option, and it’s easy to clean. I just rinse it with hot water and I’m done…
  • Great at anything I’ve tried to chop so far with it, even the “harder” food like carrots, potatoes, cheese…
  • It doesn’t leave uneven chunks, but neat little pieces I can easily cook. Great buy…
  • I’m totally going to go on more ventures and try out more recipes now that there is no more pre-cutting or doing anything by hand..
  • buy online at amazon and get a good offer

Now for the negative food processor reviews of the users – the CONs:

  • It has a square feed tube, and I find that awkward since, for example, cucumbers are round like most of the vegetables. Doesn’t make much sense and it’s not really practical.
  • Recently after making a purchase I broke the shredder blade, and when I looked into the warranty a little bit closer it said I had to cover the shipping expenses for it…not cool…
  • I was really hoping it would arrive with more options
  • Our food processor stopped working this morning after only few months of use. We are currently waiting for a replacement.

Now for my final review of this food processor:

Hamilton Beach 70740 8-Cup Food Processor reviewAfter many hours of close and careful examination of this product, and reading through every user review, I have reached a conclusion regarding this product, and I can assure you that I went into “Quality Assurance Manager” mode that I was used to for so long.

It is definitely a neat addition to any kitchen that will make your life a little bit easier, but most importantly- it’s a high-quality product at an affordable price.

The square-shaped feeding tube is designed to fit customers’ needs.

However, if you’re on a budget, this is solid choice.

Black Decker FP1600B 8-Cup Food Processor

Black & Decker FP1600B 8-Cup Food Processor Review – An Inexpensive And Efficient Solution

Black Decker FP1600B 8-Cup Food Processor review

Having said that (gosh I hate saying “having said that”), I have to say that, today, it’s more difficult to separate true quality from a waste of money.

I don’t like repeating myself, but I have to mention this part in most of my reviews these days – the overseas outsourcing.

Outsourcing is not bad per se – but there are good practices, and then there’s bad outsourcing. I know the exact locations that will keep the quality of the products, and I know the ones that might mess it up.

See more customer ratings on Amazon.

To simplify, nowadays I stick with these simple rules:

  1. I review products that are made in North America and Western Europe
  2. If I learn about somebody outsourcing, I only review product that are outsourced to locations that I know will keep the quality level
  3. I remove products that are outsourced to locations that might not maintain the quality

What does this mean for you?

It means that if you see a product on my website, the reviews for it are pure substance and still stand – so you can only see top notch stuff here.

Now that we got that out of the way, let me tell you how is this review going to work:

  1. We’ll list the specifications
  2. We’ll take a nice long look at what the fresh customer reviews are saying – both PROs and CONs
  3. I’ll do my best to explain what everything said means (in my resume)

The specifications of Black & Decker FP1600B:

  • powerful 450 W motor
  • designed for versatility…slicing, grating, mincing, chopping…
  • interlock design for extra safety
  • features a convenient cord storage
  • safe for use in a dishwasher…
  • steel chopping blade and shredding& slicing disc (reversible)
  • size: 11-2/7 x 7-4/5 x 15-2/3 “
  • 8 cups volume
  • It can sound like a lot of confusing terms before we see what the actual owners are saying. Let’s tend to that:

Pros

– the positive things the users had to say about the processor:

Black Decker FP1600B 8-Cup best Food Processor

  • nice wide tube, it’s great when you don’t have to pre-cut everything…
  • I bought this on a sale for a ridiculous price and didn’t expect much, maybe that’s why I’m so impressed by how good this BD is…this is my first review on Amazon, but I had to share…
  • I use it to make meals for my 6 dogs. Meat, fruits, vegetables, you name it…zero issues…
  • It sturdier than I thought by looking at the picture…
  • For the power it packs, it’s strangely cheap…
  • I am updating this review after 2 years of use…this thing works like a champ, just as good and fast as the day it arrived…
  • Great price….
  • Looks cute, it’s a central piece in my kitchen…
  • I was hesitant after reading some of the negative reviews. But now, I am so relieved that I jumped in and bought it, especially after struggling with those manual salad choppers that would brake within weeks, months at best…
  • One of my better investments this year, it spares so much time…
  • The cleaning is super easy, because even the part where the blades sit is detachable…
  • So cheap for the use I get out of it…will be updating this review to see how it passes the test of time…
  • Very precise and easy to follow instructions…7th grade level explanations…
  • crushes ice for margaritas like it’s butter…
  • very light…
  • so much easier to clean than a blender…
  • This is my second B&D, and it made me a lifetime fan of the brand…
  • great budget purchase…
  • you can buy it at Amazon.com

The CONs

– the negative things the users had to say about the processor:

  • this processor wouldn’t turn on out of the box…
  • I got it on sale but got the wrong blade…it can’t even fit…
  • I spent an hour just trying to put this thing together…

My reviews resume:

Great budget solution, that’s what this is.

And for a budget solution, it packs some serious power. From what I’ve seen, it works as good as food processors that cost many times over. Solid build, quality steel used on the blades, pretty compact but still a nice wide tube.

I always liked the simple German design, and it seems that they made an effort even with their lower-end products like this. Kudos for that.

The main CON that I am seeing is that it’s loud. Looking at the weight and the power, it probably is.

I had a similar issue with one of my previous food processor and I find that wrapping a cloth around the base of the processor cuts the noise at least in half since most of the noise comes from vibrations.

If the main issue is the noise, then for me, it’s a non issue. For the price, especially.

Smart buy anyway you look at it.

Resume

In its price range, this model is one of the best. After years of writing these reviews and as an ex Quality Assurance Manager in home appliances, I have a very precise and strict system of judging products. It’s based on my experience and the reviews of people using it.

Nowadays, it’s a more difficult to separate quality from a waste of money (with the outsourcing entering the picture). I know where to find the information on that, and I take my time looking into that, since it can make or brake a product.

With the 10 years warranty and renowned name that is Cuisinart, the quality of this product is guaranteed. You can do no wrong with this. I stand behind my word on this.

Hamilton Beach 70730 Bowl Scraper Food Processor

Before-Buy Tips On Hamilton Beach 70730 Bowl Scraper Food Processor

Hamilton Beach 70730 Bowl Scraper Food Processor

A product that will lend a helping hand, cut your prep time in half, turn into a kitchen sidekick and free huge chunks of your time. Time that you can spend tending to your other chores or simply enjoying some family time.

Well, let me tell you, with the jungle that the market is today, it’s as hard to chose right. It’s as hard as it ever was.

That’s the spark that made me start this website a few years ago – the idea to cut through that clutter of information and offer you some clarity so that you can make a smart, informed decision.

So, let’s dig in and do the research.

So, this is how this review is going to work:

  1. We’ll see all the product specifications
  2. The crucial part – we’ll take a look at user reviews, both positives and negatives
  3. I’ll give my interpretation on anything that was said and give the product an Overall Quality Rating

Read more about this model and compare prices at Amazon.

The basic specs list of the food processor:

  • 450 Watts strong
  • installed scraper that scrapes the sides of the bowl – you won’t need your spatula (works both in on and off mode)
  • Capacity of 10 cups
  • 2 speed modes and a pulse mode
  • Slicing and shredding discs included
  • Broad tube chute minimizes prep time
  • The bowl is safe to use in a dishwasher

OK, we’ve covered the basics. Let’s move on to positive reviews as per end users:

The PROs:

  • When you see the in-built spatula you can’t help but wonder why isn’t everybody doing this…huge time saver…
  • Great price…this thing is better than my old processor that cost twice as much
  • Great for pureeing baby food…
  • Oh, I forgot how much of a relief it is to have really good food processor…
  • I realize now that I should have bought it a year ago when I first saw it, super fast and easy to use…
  • Much better then my old B&B, faster and quieter…
  • The best value for money I have seen in…I own a restaurant and I went through 4 of these already so I know what I’m saying here…
  • Just right for salsa…it comes out nice and smooth free of lumps and chunks, I think the spatula is what makes the difference.
  • I am a vegan and I eat mostly raw stuff…this is the best helper I ever had in my collection…
  • Just made my first base for a cheesecake, it ground the graham into a fine even powder in under a minute…
  • More than I expected at this price point…
  • I was skeptical when looking at the price and all that skepticism was wiped away after only few uses. I am glad I didn’t spend big money on some of those fancier pieces
  • The knives hold their edge for a really long time. I am using it for 6 months now and it works just the same…
  • Don’t spend a small fortune on fancy features and make-up, this chopper does pretty much everything I need…
  • I wasn’t sure about the suction cup at the bottom of the base, but I see that it’s much better to be sure that your appliance will stay in it’s place if the phone suddenly rings or something…
  • Great for any kind of dough, just be cautious when getting the dough from the blade…
  • buy online at amazon

Now as per negative user reviews:

  • Don’t try making any liquid food or drinks in this, it will leak…
  • It stopped working after 3rd use, I am sending it back…
  • The one I just got must be defective because it spontaneously stops in the middle of the job…

My resume of the reviews we’ve seen:

Hamilton Beach 70730 Bowl Scraper best Food ProcessorObviously, the first thing that caught my eye here is the in-built spatula. It’s one of those things that makes me think: “Oh, why didn’t I think of that while I was still working in the industry”.

One of the main issue with food processors is that, unless the bowl is carefully designed to avoid it, your food might not be evenly chopped, sliced or pureed because it sticks to the wall. This design eliminates that issue completely.

I don’t think that 2 speeds (and pulse) are enough and I am not sure why would Hamilton Beach cut corners there. They know that, to get optimal results, different kinds of foods call for different speeds of chopping and slicing. That one is a big downside in my eyes.

My guess is that they were trying to cut cost and come to the market with a budget item, but I also know for a fact that different settings in motor speed would not add that much to the cost. I also think that with the other qualities (motor strength, even chopping and slicing because of the spatula, solid design…) customers would not care much “splurging” extra 10 bucks.

Overall, it’s a product that will be good for 80-90% of the needs in a regular household.

Product specifications:

  • 300 watts powerful motor
  • Saves you kitchen space with in-bowl storage
  • Easier cleaning; Dishwasher-safe parts
  • Easy to use, On/Pulse options
  • 8-cup capacity

Now for the positive user reviews as per end users:

  • This is the best food processor I’ve had so far, it works wonderfully.

It has plenty of room so you can cook for many people at once. It’s great for family reunions and holiday food preparation; it cuts my prep time in half when I make larger quantities of food.

  • This is truly an excellent and powerful food processor. After my 15-year old one, this one seems to do everything in warp speed…
  • Definitely worth the money. I’m really into kitchen appliances, and this bad boy can go for miles. I’ve had so many food processors, and this one would definitely rank high in my top 5…
  • Does exactly what it says it will do. Quick, quiet, efficient. Easy to use, and even easier to clean. I like the On/Off and pulse buttons, they are highly responsive…
  • It did a great job on any food so far, even home-made pasta dough. Slicing and shredding blades work as well as the mixing…
  • It looks solid and built to last. The blades are really sharp and well-built. It’s almost too powerful for its size, but the motor doesn’t heat up no matter how long I abuse it…
  • It worked great so far for my 5-member family. It’s really easy to clean, and it doesn’t gather dust as it’s easy to store it in the bowl itself…
  • My husband cooks in our family, so this was a present for him. So far, he has reported no problems and says that it saves him a lot of time in the kitchen…
  • It works wonders with baby food ingredients. I like how I can make a big batch and then just store it in the fridge. The best part- my baby doesn’t seem to notice when it’s on…
  • It arrived on time and in good condition. Does what it says it will on the box…
  • So far I’ve made hummus, pie crust, cookie dough, pesto, biscuit dough and I have no complaints. It works great on salads as well…
  • Great food processor, it’s really light, but very powerful. It’s easy to manage, and it’s very user-friendly…
  • I like the bowl lock extra safety option, and the fact that it closes smoothly. The best thing about it- I didn’t have to pay an arm and a leg for it…very satisfied…
  • buy at amazon.com

Now for the negative user reviews:

  • I know it’s an 8-cup capacity food processor and all, but if you put less than half a cup of anything in it, since the blades are sitting high, it won’t even touch it…
  • I live alone, and I wish I’ve gotten a smaller one…it’s not so good if you need smaller batches…
  • The feeding tube doesn’t seem to be able to fit whole potatoes, so you have to cut them in half before you put them in…

Food Processor review resume:

After all that we’ve learned and read today, the time has come for us to evaluate this product. My overall impression of this product is- what you see is what you get. Sturdy, powerful and quiet are the best epithets to describe this Hamilton of generous 8-cup capacity.

As a former Quality Assurance Manager, I am obligated to direct your attention to some potential problems that you might encounter. Keep in mind that this food processor has minimal and maximal capacity and that it won’t process any quantity of food under the marked minimum.
